In response to increasing community requests to declare a climate emergency, the Council within The City of Greater Geelong (The City), adopted a motion that acknowledged that climate change poses a risk to the people of Geelong and Australia and requires a genuine and coordinated response.
That genuine and coordinated response ensued the development of a Sustainability Framework for The City that entails all of The City’s activities within the organisation and its activities with the community.
The Sustainability Framework was developed through the identification of sustainability topics from a 3 step data gathering exercise that were specific to opportunities the within the region itself.
The Sustainability Framework is now being implemented throughout all of the City’s planning and delivery of services and is fast becoming the way things are done around here.
